Vinita Jain, born in Kolkata, grew up on her grandfather’s estate where the nearest hospital was 500 kilometres away. From birth, she was treated with homegrown Ayurvedic remedies — botanical concoctions passed down through generations of her family from Sanskrit-reading Ayurvedic masters who lived on the estate.

These early years gave Vinita something no university could teach: the lived knowledge of what plants, herbs, and roots can do for the human body. She learned to read Sanskrit herself, diving into the original Charak Samhita and Bhagbhat Nikanthu Veda texts to understand the formulas her family had preserved for centuries.

After graduating from the University of Delhi in 1990, Vinita pursued biotechnology in Switzerland and business management at Stanford University, California.
